Pune Metro will extend its passenger service hours until midnight during Ganeshotsav. To accommodate the increased footfall and ensure smooth transportation during this festive period of Ganesh festival, Pune Metro will extend its passenger service hours until midnight throughout Ganeshotsav while increasing the frequency.
From September 7 to 9, Metro services will operate from 6:00 AM to 11:00 PM while from September 10 to 16, it will extend further, running from 6:00 AM to 12:00 midnight.
On the last day, September 17, the Metro will run continuously for 24 hours, from 6:00 AM on 17 September to 6:00 AM on 18 September.
In addition to the extended hours, Pune Metro urged passengers to use digital ticketing options — such as the Pune Metro mobile app and WhatsApp ticketing — to avoid long queues and reduce crowding at ticket counters.
These extended hours and the push for digital ticketing are aimed at providing maximum convenience to citizens and ensuring a seamless travel experience during the celebrations.
To ensure passengers of a smooth commute during Ganeshotsav, the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) has announced the deployment of 800 additional buses in two phases, which will operate as special “Yatra” services.
Satish Gate, public relations officer of PMPML said the Yatra special buses will operate but the fares for second shift buses will be increased by Rs 5. Additionally he said that passes will not be valid on these buses post midnight.
In case of heavy traffic in central Pune, vehicles will be diverted to alternate routes. In the first phase, 168 buses will operate on September 9, 10, and 16, while 620 more buses will run between September 11 and 15.
