The Sulafest is back and this year it is spread over two days – February 4 and 5. From 12.30 pm till 10 pm,Sulafest partygoers can enjoy music,wine,food and shopping at the winery in Nasik. This year’s band line-up will feature some celebrated international acts for the first time,the biggest one being Nitin Sawhney’s first live performance in India. Other bands include Blackstratblues,Reggae Rajahs,Papon and the East India Company,Ankur and the Ghalat family,Dualist Inquiry and more. Spicing it up more will be the ‘Sulafest Bazaar’ with a selection of carefully chosen and charming items for sale. Further,foot massages,tattoos,grape stomping and a plethora of fun filled activities will round off the event. Tickets will be available soon at http://www.bookmyshow.com and other popular venues in Mumbai,Pune and Nasik. Stay tuned.

Delectable Bites

The Siemens showroom on Bund Garden Road recently held an interactive cooking session conducted by Chef Vishal Lilani who demonstrated vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes. As he cooked up delicacies,he also gave some interesting dessert tips. After all,his wife owns Shockolaah at Salunke Vihar Road,a bakery that fast climbing up the popularity charts in the city. Lilani has worked with food outlets and hotels in Pune,Mumbai and Aurangabad and is currently a consultant for a few restaurants. Ask him about his favourite dessert at Shockolaah,and he says,”It’s shock-o-la – a Mexican cake with lots of chocolates and fresh fruits.”

Made In Malwa

Till January 29,the Portico,Sayaji Hotels,Wakad,is giving out the ‘Secrets of Malwa’. This food festival,organised in association with Madhya Pradesh Tourism has delicacies from the state of Madhya Pradesh – from the non vegetarian food of Sehlana,the best of vegetarian from Bundelkhand to the semi-explored cuisine of Malwa. Start the meal with a jal jeera drink,savour the taste of soups like Tamatar/Jahangiri/Yakhani or Paya Shorba along with Tawa Fish,Mutton Seekh,Sunheri Bhindi,Paneer Achari and Kurkuri Arbi for starters. Main course highlights are Mutton Rizala,Machchli ka Soola,Murgh Achari,Maheri,Guian Ki Subzi(Arvi),and the delicious Bafla/Bati. ALso look forward to chaat and namkin like bhutte ka kiss,aloo tikki chat,childra and the famous garadu. There’s choice of roti,papads,pickles and chutneys. Time: 7 pm onwards.

Wine On

The Amanora Town Centre in association with the Pune Gourmet Club recently held a Wine and Food Festival. Indian and International wineries showcased a wide range of varietals and vintages. The Food Court featured delicious food – from sushi,pizzas,tapas,Oriental to barbecued delights and cookies. This two-day extravaganza also had fusion music performances by bands – Mukti and Moksha.

From February 6-11,wine connoisseurs can head to Alto Vino at the Pune Marriott Hotel and Convention Centre,Senapati Bapat Road. Cristian and Natascia Santandrea,chefs from Italy will lend their expertise to the Wine & Food Pairing Festival. Think authentic Italian food,delicious wines and lively conversations.
