The city BJP unit on Monday criticised Mayor Mohansingh Rajpal for being absent at the inauguration of a civic parking facility in Narayan Peth on Sunday. The parking lot was inaugurated by BJP general secretary Gopinath Munde and the mayor was convenor of the function. The parking space in Narayan Peth has been developed by the Pune Municipal Corporation and is named after Haribhau Sane. The parking was inaugurated by Munde after waiting for the Mayor for long. “The Mayor was the convenor of the function, but didn’t turn up. This is an insult to our senior national leader,” said Mukta Tilak,BJP leader in the PMC. The city BJP unit condemned the behaviour of the Mayor and sought a clarification from him for remaining absent at a function of the PMC,she said. Tilak alleged the Mayor has “politicised” the functioning of the PMC. “If the Mayor continues such behaviour, the BJP would henceforth boycott functions of the PMC,” she added.
