With malls and restaurants putting up big screens and multiplexes reserving one of their screens for the matches,city is ready for the IPL season
While watching the matches on giant screens is one way of experiencing the excitement,others who wish to experience the same live,can now even get the tickets via their mobile phones. Vodafone,has come up with a option where people can buy the IPL tickets on the Vodafone Mobile shop directly and can obtain them from their nearest store. Speaking about the same,Kumar Ramanathan,chief marketing officer,Vodafone Essar says,Since the IPL is one of the most awaited events in India we have launched a service that provides customers the convenience of buying tickets through their mobile phones. The customer can choose his match,the stand and the seating option and then directly pay from the phone.
Ishanya is having an interactive live IPL experience at their amphitheatre. Ajoy Krishnamurti,CEO,Ishanya Mall,says,IPL as an event is one of the biggest entertainers for not just the local populace but also for the foreigners. The amphitheatre which itself is in the shape of the stadium has been done up to re-create the actual atmosphere of the same.
In addition to screening the matches on a giant 43 by 22 ft screen the event will feature cheer-girls,DJs and even face painters. Speaking more Krishnamurti says,There will also be another screen for the audience members who can put up their Facebook,and Twitter messages online directly during the matches in real time. The tickets are priced at Rs 150 from Monday to Thursday and Rs 200 from Friday to Sunday.
Sandeep Shetty,cinema manager,Big Cinemas,says,Popularity of IPL cannot be under-rated. Keeping that in mind,we are screening all the matches of IPL live from today till the final match. We have reserved out screen three for the screening of the matches. For the promotion of the live screening at Big Cinemas,we are also doing road shows. Moreover,the whole décor of the multiplex is being done with IPL as theme to get that feel also through the ambience,so that people can enjoy cricket to the fullest.
Apart from screening live matches of IPL on 15 LCD screens,Hard Rock Café has also put a giant screen to screen the IPL matches for their customers. We also have designed a special combo-menu especially for the IPL season. Except on Thursdays,when we have live band,we have the screening everyday, says Tushar Bhatt,general manager,Hard Rock Café,Pune.
Talking about the cricket fever that grips the city,Ajay Shirke,president,Maharashtra Cricket Association,says,Cricket has always been huge in India and IPL craze is growing among youngsters. Keeping all this in mind the preparations in the city is a good news for both cricket enthusiasts and the Board. While there is much revenue generation for BCCI,youth,who are not able to make it to the venue because of high rates of tickets or distance,can also go and enjoy the match on the big 70 mm screen at those multiplexes or any other public place.
