Marital ties

Amidst exotic paintings and artifacts,the music of the popular Marathi movie Mani Mangalsutra was promoted at the Ark art gallery located in the Koregaon Park on Tuesday. Musical maestro Jagjit Singh who was present for the event spoke about the upsurge in trend of item numbers in Hindi movies he said nonchalantly,“It is the Munnis and Sheilas that get all the attention and the awards too. But the classical singers like us do not get the coverage they deserve.” Commenting on the music of the movie,he said,“It is like a whiff of fresh air. Songs catering to different moods are included in the album.” Amongst others who were present at the do were Hrishita Bhatt,Gauri Sarvate the director of the movie and singer Apeksha Dandekar.
