The Maharashtra State Agriculture Marketing Board (MSAMB) on Thursday launched a Mango Festival for selling Ratnagiri Alphonsoes,on the premises of its office at Gultekdi Market Yard. The festival will be on between 9 am and 8 pm. Twenty stalls have been put up at the MSAMB office.
The festival is aimed at helping farmers sell the mangoes from the fields directly to the stalls without any mediation from traders. The MSAMB has also started its ‘Dial for Mango’ facility,where those interested in purchasing a minimum of 25 dozen mangoes can order their consignment on 24263873.
The move is targeted at those customers who wish to order mangoes in bulk. Banks,private companies,government offices can avail of the offer.
The MSAMB has compartmentalised mangoes into four categories as per its weight: mango above 275 gm,between 250 gm and 275 gm,between 225 gm and 250 gm,and mangoes below 225 gm in weight. The price of all these four varieties are being decided on a daily basis after holding talks with the farmers.
After registering the consignment,the concerned farmer will bear the transportation charges.
