A MAN and his son were found dead at their residence in Gawli Wada in Khadki late on Sunday evening. While police suspect the duo committed suicide, the reason behind their extreme step could not be ascertained.

Police have identified the deceased as Dnyaneshwar Gade (46) and his son Prasad Gade (21). Police said the duo was found hanging from the ceiling in their house. Dnyaneshwar’s wife had also committed suicide by setting herself ablaze about two years ago, they added.

Investigation has revealed that Dnyaneshwar was an autorickshaw driver and his son Prasad a liquor addict. Prasad used to earn some money by working as a daily wage labourer.

A day before hanging himself, Dnyaneshwar, who was disturbed for the last few days, had called his daughter Monali Gade over phone. He told her that he was going to commit suicide as he felt lonely, said police.

After receiving information about the incident, a team of Khadki police rushed to the spot and took the bodies to the hospital for post-mortem. No suicide note was found. Police have registered an accidental death case and are probing the case.

Meanwhile, the deaths shocked local residents in Gawli Wada. A few residents said that for the last few days, Dnyaneshwar looked upset and kept saying that he was going to die soon.
