Man rapes niece,assaults son for stopping him

Mundhwa police have arrested a labourer for allegedly raping his 14-year-old niece and assaulting his 15-year-old son when he tried to stop him from committing the heinous crime.

Mundhwa police have arrested a labourer for allegedly raping his 14-year-old niece and assaulting his 15-year-old son when he tried to stop him from committing the heinous crime. The incident took place at Ghorpadi village on Thursday.

Police said the victim stays with her grandmother and two siblings near Tadiwala road while her father works as a driver at Kolhapur. PSI Mangala Modhve of Mundhwa police station said,We have learnt that girls mother had left the family a few years ago. The two sisters and their brother stay with their grandmother. A couple of days ago,victims grandmother had gone to Kolhapur. The three children were staying at the house of their uncle in Ghorpadi.

Police said on Thursday afternoon,the suspects wife and the girls siblings went out for work. The girl and her cousin were taking a nap at home.

As per the statement of the victim,the suspect raped her around 3 pm. The suspects son tried to stop him but he pushed him away. When he again tried to stop his father,the suspect assaulted him with a chopper, Modhve added.

Police said the victim is a student of Class VII at a school in Pune. She is now under treatment at Sassoon Hospital while the suspects son has been discharged.

The victim narrated the entire incident to her elder sister. The two sisters came to the police station and lodged a complaint. We have arrested the suspect. said Modhve.
