Pune man offered a lift in car, robbed of Rs 26,000

The victim, Lokesh Chikati (26), registered the complaint on Tuesday — six days later — as he was under mental trauma.

A software professional who was offered a lift by three unidentified men in their car to drop him at Hinjewadi IT Park was robbed of Rs 26,000 at knife point.

The incident took place early morning September 10 in Wakad. The victim, Lokesh Chikati (26), registered the complaint on Tuesday — six days later — as he was under mental trauma.

According to the complaint registered by Chikati, he was waiting for a vehicle at the Hinjewadi Chowk when three men approached him in a car and offered to drop him to his company at Hinjewadi Park for minimal fare.

“Unware of their intentions, Chikati accepted the offer. After five minutes into the journey, one of the occupants of the car pulled out a knife from his pocket and instructed him to go to an ATM and forced him to withdraw Rs 27,000,” said police Sub-Inspector S Y Holkar of Hinjewadi police station.

Chikati hails from Andhra Pradesh and two months ago joined an IT firm in Hinjewadi.
