Maharashtra trounce Mumbai

The Maharashtra U-19 team defeated rivals Mumbai by three wickets at the ongoing U-19 Vinoo Mankad Trophy at Vadodara,Gujarat on Friday.

The Maharashtra U-19 team defeated rivals Mumbai by three wickets at the ongoing U-19 Vinoo Mankad Trophy at Vadodara,Gujarat on Friday. Batting first,Mumbai managed to score only 181 in 48 overs,thanks to some extremely restrictive fielding and economical bowling by their the Maharashtra U-19 counterparts.

For Mumbai Siddhesh Lad scored 56 runs with 6 fours and Suryakumar Yadav scored29 with Sagar Sawant and Ganesh Kukade scalping three wickets each and Chirag Khurana taking two wickets for Maharashtra.

On a placid Vadodara pitch the score put up by them was never going to be enough as Maharashtra even though slow and steady built up their innings despite clever restrictive bowling from the Mumbai team. In the end it was the batting geniuses of Swapnil Gugale (35 runs),Rohit Charan (34 runs not out) and Rahul Tripathi (28 runs) saw Maharashtra sail home comfortably in the 48 th over with a score line of 182 for the loss of seven wickets. For Mumbai,Javed Khan and S Thakur took two wickets each to provide them with a glimmer of hope of winning the match.
