Madhur Bajaj, former Bajaj Auto vice chairman, dies in Mumbai
Grandson of industrialist and politician Jamnalal Bajaj, Madhur was the third generation of the industrialist family.

Veteran industrialist and former vice chairman of Bajaj Auto Madhur Bajaj died in a Mumbai hospital on Friday. He was 73-years-old and is survived by his wife and two daughters.
Grandson of industrialist and politician Jamnalal Bajaj, Madhur was the third generation of the industrialist family. Extensively educated in India and abroad, he was director of multiple of the group’s companies. Last year he had resigned from the position of vice chairman of Bajaj Auto due to ill health. He was also the president of the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) as well as CII and other industrial bodies.
Union Minister for Commerce and Industries Piyush Goyal said Bajaj will be known for his efforts in taking the company to heights as well as participating in the India growth story.
Baba Kalyani, CMD of Bharat Forge, while paying his condolences, said, with the passing of Madhur Bajaj a respected and senior member of the Bajaj family and their family friend had passed away. “His distinguished associations, including Chairman of the Confederation of Indian Industry (Western Region), Past President of the Chamber of Marathwada Industries and Agriculture, and involvement with the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers, showcased his unwavering commitment to excellence. My heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones. May he rest in peace,” he said
Sanjay Kirloskar, president of Mahratta Chamber of Commerce Industries and Agriculture (MCCIA), said, Bajaj, as the body’s president, had brought remarkable vision to it. “During his tenure (2006–08), he brought remarkable vision to MCCIA from signing an MoU with UNIDO to help MSMEs meet global standards, to promoting entrepreneurship, innovation, and new-age sectors like animation and gaming. A visionary industrialist and generous philanthropist, his legacy will continue to guide us. Our heartfelt condolences to the Bajaj family,” he said.
