At the Prathmik Shikshak Mandal Shikshan Sanstha,Saturday,June 18,was a special day. An NGO named Seva Sahyog distributed school and study material to the 300 children of the Marathi medium school. Notebooks, pencils, compass boxes and other material were delivered in sacks to the school by the organisation that is run by IT professionals from companies like Infosys,Tech Mahindra, and more. The school helps students who come from a below poverty background. The teachers of the school go up to the slums where these kids reside and make sure they get to the classes, says Anil Navale, the secretary of the school. The school provides the underprivileged children with all the material required to study, including uniforms. Though this is a Marathi medium school, the kids here are coached so well that they join good schools after they have passed the seventh standard here, says Navale. He explained that the function held by Seva Sahyog was a part of the bigger campaign by the NGO involving many schools and thousands more sacks of education material for kids in need.
