Land dispute: Chavan gives clean chit

Chavan said he conducted an informal inquiry and found out that the charges were baseless and seemed to be made out of political rivalry

Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan has given his party colleague and MLA Vinayak Nimhan a ‘clean chit’ in connection with a land dispute case in which Nimhan, his corporator son,and three others were booked for assaulting two persons, trespassing and wrongful restraint.

Last month,Vinay Kunjir,a resident of Sangvi, and Arun Deshmukh,a retired defence services officer, had lodged a complaint against Nimhan and others.

Chavan said he conducted an informal inquiry and found out that the charges were baseless and seemed to be made out of political rivalry.

“The property is owned by Nimhan and there is no possibility of any road on the plot. There is an alternate road available in the area,” said Chavan. He,however, could not clarify who was defaming Nimhan. “I think I have said enough on the subject,” he said.
