Koregaon police station opens today

The long-awaited Koregaon Park police station will be inaugurated on Monday,though at a temporary site,in the presence of Pune police commissioner Meeran Borwankar.

The long-awaited Koregaon Park police station will be inaugurated on Monday,though at a temporary site,in the presence of Pune police commissioner Meeran Borwankar,municipal commissioner Mahesh Pathak and district collector Vishwas Deshmukh.

With civic polls coming up,cops had announced that Koregaon Park and Market Yard police stations will be made functional in January. Koregaon park police station was allotted a plot on lane 4 at Suyojana Society. Senior inspector Shivaji Kamble,who has been given the charge of the police station,said,“The area under the police station has places of religious and social importance. It also has many corporate offices. The police administration had decided to start the station immediately the civic polls were round the corner. However,the construction of the station is not yet complete. We will start functioning from a temporary site.”

Joint police commissioner Sanjivkumar Singhal,additional commissioners of police Anant Shinde,Sureshkumar Mekhla,C G Kumbhar,DCP Raghunath Khaire,and ACP M M Makandar will be present for the function along with senior PWD officials — superintendent engineer D G Malekar and executive engineer Atul Chavan.
