KCB to hire new squad

The Khadki Cantonment Board will hire a new private anti-encroachment squad after it found out that the present one was not performing well.

The Khadki Cantonment Board (KCB) will hire a new private anti-encroachment squad after it found out that the present one was not performing well.

At the cantonment board meeting on December 16,the board took a serious note of the failure of Maji Sainik security in doing its job. Earlier, the board had issued a show-cause notice and a warning letter to the encroachment removal squad. “We even made the deductions in the monthly bills but the anti-encroachment squad failed in its job,” said a cantonment board official.

The matter was drawn to the notice of the cantonment board members through an agenda which was circulated to them ahead of the meeting.

As per the agenda, chief revenue superintendent of the cantonment board V R Panse complained,“The work of encroachment removal squad is not satisfactory”.

The official said the board was considering fresh proposals to hire a new squad.

The KCB has received eight proposals. As per official documents, the Maji Sainik security has offered the lowest rate of Rs 1.37 lakh to provide the services of 10 security guards and one security supervisor for 12-hour duty in a month.

However, even as the Spider Security services has offered Rs 1.5 lakh a month for the same job,the board is of the view that the work should be given to it.

“We will approach the Spider Security and ask it to carry out the job on the same rate which has been offered by Maji Sainik security. In order to bring efficiency in work,we have decided to increase the working hours,” said an official.

Panse said the matter was discussed at the cantonment board meeting and he was awaiting the proceedings of the board meeting on the final decision over the issue.

“The Maji Sainik Security will continue to provide its services to us till further orders were issued,” he said.

Cantonment board member S L Kamble said,“The present anti-encroachment squad has not been doing its work satisfactorily. It does not attend to the complaints of people on the illegal encroachments seriously.”
