Kaustubh Upadhye and Gaurav Athalye share a passion for adventure, wildlife and photography. They decided to put all this together and start a travel and photography company titled Jungle Lore in 2006,the year when quit their corporate careers to become what they call,’full time trippers’. The duo are ready to showcase an exclusive collection of their photographs at an exhibition titled ‘Missing Compass’. The six-day exhibition begins on July 12 and will be held at Yashwantrao Chavan Art Gallery,Kothrud.

“We held a similar exhibition in Mumbai and it was received by the audience very well. We hope to ignite a passion for adventure in the hearts of Puneites as well,” says Upadhye, adding that their organisation endeavours to create a platform for people who appreciate travelling and believe in capturing special and rare moments of nature. The exhibition displays an array of photographs that depict rare moments of wildlife from India,Africa and Tanzania. It will also showcase never-seen-before portraits of African tribes demonstrating the daily course of their lives in the wild. “Each photograph in the show has a story behind it. There are photographs of a wounded tiger,an eagle killing a monitor lizard, and many more. We were lucky to have caught on celluloid at the just the right moment,” reveals Athalye. The exhibition also displays a series of the breathtakingly beautiful landscapes of Ladakh,Sikkim and Bhutan as well as the tribals and wildlife of these places.

“The naturalistic photos promote off beat destinations around the world to the cosmopolitan clientèle,who are ready to explore exotic locations,” contends Athalye, who is enthusiastic about initiating a photography club in Pune. “We are happy to guide fellow travellers on their expeditions and will also help them to collaborate and exhibit their photography on a larger scale” he says.

(The exhibition will be held from July 12 to July 17 at Yashwantrao Chavan Art Gallery,Kothrud from 11 am to 8 pm)
