Job scam: One more held

Police have also launched a search for autorickshaw driver Raju Tamboli of Ahmednagar. The suspects — Mohite,Zubeda and Nanda booked on the charges of cheating and forgery — were on Friday produced before a magistrate court which remanded them in police custody for three days.

Vaishali Sandeep Ambekar,a resident of Ahmednagar and a nurse at a local hospital,had lodged a complaint at Wanavdi police station on Thursday. In May this year,Tamboli told the victim that his brother is in military and promising her a job at AFMC. He introduced her to suspect Mohite and Nanda. He told her that Nanda is a clerk at Command Hospital and Mohite works at Army major’s house.

Suspects allegedly took Rs 2 lalk in installments from her. Later,they conducted her medical test at a private hospital and issued her a fake appointment letter on a bogus AFMC letterhead stating “Confirmation in Service”.

As per the letter,she was to join work from July 9. But when she inquired with Army personnel,she was told that the appointment letter was fake. Following this,the Pune unit of military intelligence initiated a probe and provided specific inputs to Wanavdi police after which the arrests were made. “The efforts are on to recover money from the suspects. We are probing if they have cheated more people. We suspect more people in the scam,” said assistant police inspector S N Hulwan.
