Association ties up with consultancy firm,to hold seminar and training programmes

A fortnight after the blast at the German Bakery, many hotels in the city have installed CCTVs and screening gadgets and are roping in Israeli experts to sensitise their staff to various security concerns. The Pune chapter of Hotels and Restaurant Association (Western India) has tied up with ARMS security training and consultancy service run by Israeli experts in the city to hold a seminar to encourage more such training programmes.

“We will be conducting a seminar for the staff of hotels and restaurants this week. Post the terror attack in Pune,we felt the need to train the entire hotel staff and not just security guards. There will be given soft skills training so that they could play a vital role in case of any terror strike,” said C Behl, president,Pune Hotels and Restaurants Association.

He said that the staff of the hotels and restaurants would get a blueprint about various security parameters including the structure of the hotel, proper monitoring mechanisms and suspicious movements inside hotels during the one-day seminar.

“This will be the first seminar on security and we will carry it forward by constantly keeping in touch with our members regarding security aspects. Hotels and restaurants in the city can then decide whether or not to engage an agency to train their staff,” said Behl.

The ARMS security training and consultancy service is run by Israelis based in Pune belonging to Israeli defence units, with experience in the police and the military. “We are engaged in providing services in the field of industrial security, corporate security, security management, counter terrorism, personal combat and integrated security solutions. Earlier, security was not a priority in this region but post the terror attack corporates and hotels are increasingly feeling the need for intensifying security and training for their staff. We have conducted training for the staff of the IT and the BPO companies in Pune and other corporate houses,” said Rinat S Moscovich, chairman and chief executive officer,ARMS security training and consultancy service.

“Security is an ongoing process. Now,we have annual contracts with 10 corporate houses and hotels in the city,” said Moscovich. While,Hotels and Restaurant Association (Western India) is also planning something on similar lines and are in talks with an Israel-based private security firm. “ We are in talks with a private security agency based in Israel to impart training to the staff of our members. We want to take this training to all the states in the Western region and also roll it out to other parts of the country,” said Suresh M Talera, president of the association.
