According to Dilip Oak,director of Dilip Oak Academy,a city-based coaching institute for GRE and TOEFL that sends most number of students to the US from Pune, the retirement of baby boom generation has increased the opportunity of Indian students to get jobs there.
We are already experiencing increase in the number of students going to the US for postgraduate courses in science and technology. As the American science and technology institutes find it hard to find American students, they mainly depend on foreign students and especially Indian and Chinese students as these students are better in quality, he said.
The total number of students who went to the US last year from Pune was 2000 of which 1500 were from Oak Academy and it is expected that the same number of students will go this year too. Of this lot 95 per cent go for science and technology courses. Last year,32,000 students went to the US for higher studies from across the country.
