If House hung, won’t back BJP-Sena: Gowda

In case of a hung Assembly, the Republican Left Democratic Front will definitely not support the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance, said Janata Dal (Secular) president and former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda.

In case of a hung Assembly, the Republican Left Democratic Front (RLDF) will definitely not support the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance, said Janata Dal (Secular) president and former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda.

The decision to extend support to any party, except BJP-Sena,will be taken by senior party leaders,he said.

However,Deve Gowda chose not to comment on his party’s alliance with Sharad Pawar’s Nationalist Congress Party.

Deve Gowda was in the city to campaign for CPM candidate Kiran Moghe from Parvati constituency and RLDF candidate Anis Ahmed from Kasba Peth constituency. “People of Maharashtra have experienced the rule under Congress as well as the saffron alliance and are looking for a change. The RLDF will certainly prove to be an option for these masses,” he added.

Asked about the party stand in case a hung assembly emerges,he said,“One party rule is a history. It has been predicted that the new alliances and large number of rebels would see no party gaining clear majority. However,it is difficult to predict the results especially taking into consideration the unexpected outcome of Lok Sabha elections. If anti-establishment sentiments gather strength,RLDF would certainly be major deciding factor.”

“During my tenure as the prime minister,I took several steps to boost agriculture. In fact,we were the first ones to offer loans at 4 per cent interest to farmers in Karnataka. The Congress government has failed to ensure livelihood to farmers,Dalits and other minorities. With 17 parties representing various elements in the society,RLDF will ensure the progress of true India,” Deve Gowda said.
