(Express File)The announcement of results by CICSE (Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations) for Classes 10 and 12 brought much joy and some surprises for Pune.
From Maharashtra, a total of 28,588 students from 265 schools appeared for ICSE (class 10) exams and 3,840 students from 70 schools appeared for ISC (class 12) exams in the academic year 2023-24.
In the ICSE exam, 99.96 percent state students passed, while 99.7 per cent students passed the ISC exam. Girls saw a higher pass percentage at both levels.
Although the MCQ pattern has been followed ever since the pandemic, this year’s MCQs were particularly tricky,” said the spokesperson of Wisdom World School, Wakad.
“From the students point of view, the MCQs needed complete conceptual clarity to be attempted accurately. From the teachers’ point of view, they had to ensure that the students were well prepared in all aspects and had the right perspective to attempt the MCQs,” he said.
“While our students did very well overall, we expected better scores in Mathematics, Geography and Physics,” she said. Their student, Mansi Gunaseelan scored a staggering 99.6 per cent followed by Shruti Nabar (99.2 per cent ), and Atulya Dongre (98.8 per cent ).
Of 141 students, 103 scored 90 per cent and above in the ICSE exam. Reflecting on the exam process, Tanvi Lale from St Helena School, who scored 98.8 per cent said, “The exam pattern has changed since Covid. Questions were more concept based, earlier they were direct.”
She also said that being the head girl of the school, she “was also involved in extracurricular activities, but it wasn’t hard for me to keep up with the syllabus.”
St Mary’s School announced a 100 per cent pass percentage for the ICSE and ISC exams. Neeti Manot scored the highest in her school with 99.4 per cent followed by Nikita Sondhi, Suhani Malik, and Tanisha Ajmera who secured 99.2 per cent. Science student Neeti Deshpande topped the ICSE exam in the school with 98.8 per cent followed by Dhruv Pandye, Aditi Sawant and Aditi Ramkumar.
Similarly, Vidya Pratishthan’s City Public School (Magarpatta) witnessed a 100 per cent pass rate in the ICSE exam. Kushal Adsul, Harsh Kuber, Rashi Gupta, and Ananya Jain ranked as top achievers.
