Hit and run: truck driver held

The Hinjewadi police have arrested a truck driver for running over a 35-year-old man. The incident occurred on the Mumbai-Bangalore highway near Bavdhan around 9.30 am on Monday. Police said the accused,Sanjay Dharamlal Mohanto (26),a resident of Panvel,was driving a trailer on the highway at a high speed and ran over a man who was crossing the road. The identity of the victim is yet to be ascertained,they added.

Rs 1 lakh stolen
Unidentified persons broke into the office of Pallod Properties on Bhandarkar Road here and stole Rs 1 lakh in cash. According to the Deccan police,the incident occurred in the intervening hours of Sunday evening and Monday morning. Nandkishore Nathmal Pallod (54),a resident of Sarla Gulmohar Path in Erandwane,filed a police complaint. Pallod told the police that he had closed his office,which is in Laxmi Vihar Building,around 4.30 pm on Sunday.
