Hemlata More elected PUTA president

The Pune University Teachers’ Association has appointed Hemlata More as president of the organisation.

The Pune University Teachers’ Association (PUTA) has appointed Hemlata More as president of the organisation. It was reportedly decided that the two members will share the post of general secretary for one-year term each. The tenure of the office bearers and executive body is of two years.

However, according to sources, the PUTA members decided that Arun Walunj will be general secretary for the first year and Vijay Gaikwad who has been elected as secretary will be general secretary for the second year. Meanwhile, some members have objected to the election process of the executive body saying it was against the constitution of the body. “We are planning to challenge it,” said a member.
