Free Check Ups for Children

Mumbai based Mukul Madhav Foundation has been actively involved in charity work in the areas of medicine,education and social welfare,specially in the field of child care. Another institution,Lokmangal Foundation,approached MMF to organise a camp in Pune. On September 9,both organisations jointly held checkups for children on Tadiwala road. Doctors from KEM and H.V. Desai hospitals were on site for general and pediatric care,as well as for eye checkups.

Paper presented

Dr Pankaj N. Maheshwari,senior consultant in Urology at Aditya Birla Memorial Hospital,presented papers on different aspects of kidney related problems at the 30th World Congress of Endo-Urology per cent Shock Wave Lithotripsy (WCE),held in Istanbul,Turkey from September 4 to 8. The conference was hosted by the Turkish Medical Association and attended by 2800 Urologists.

Medical progamme

Building on a legacy of achievements at AFMC,Pune,the Department of Pathology took another big stride with the organisation of two Continuing Medical Education (CME) Programmes,from September 15 to 18. Over 500 delegates from across the country attended the CMEs that were aimed at spreading awareness about recent cutting edge techniques in Pathology and Haematology and synergistic applications in all the fields of Pathology. Techniques including automation in the laboratory,confocal microscopy,karyotyping,immunofluorescence and molecular testing were discussed .

Manas Barhate,age 5 years,was wounded on May 29,2012,and has since undergone multiple skin graftings and colostomy. His family has already spent Rs 4 lakhs,and further treatment will cost approximately Rs 4 lakhs. He is still to undergo three surgeries.
