Dr Col Madan Deshpande,chief medical director,PBMAs H V Desai Eye Hospital,was awarded the 'Outstanding Service in Prevention of Blindness Award' by Asia Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology,on April 15.

Dr Col (Retd) Madan Deshpande,chief medical director,PBMAs H V Desai Eye Hospital,was awarded the ‘Outstanding Service in Prevention of Blindness Award’ by Asia Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology (APAO),on April 15. The award is given in recognition of individuals who have made scientific contribution to the prevention of blindness in the Asia Pacific Region. This APAO was the largest ophthalmic organisation in the annual meeting at Busan,South Korea,where 65 countries participated. Dr Col Deshpande is also president of VISION 2020: The Right to Sight-India,president of Indian Association of Community Ophthalmology (INACO ) and Community Ophthalmology Society of India (COSI).

Journal Published

The association of medical researchers of India inaugurated and published their ‘International journal of basic and applied medical research’ by dental surgeon Dr Prashant Karnik,recently. On this occasion,Dr Sunil Bhamare,editor in chief,Dr Motilal Tayade,working head of the journal and advisory committee members Dr Sachinkumar Wankhede,Dr Prathamesh Kamble and Dr Kirankumar Jadhav were present. This journal offers an international platform for the research work underway in the field of medicine,dentistry and pharmacy. This journal has been indexed by the medical indexing bodies of the USA,Poland,Greece,Japan and India.

Collaboration announced

Lokmanya Medical Foundation’s medical research centre announced their collaboration with Excel Life Sciences – a US-based India-operating provider of comprehensive trial management services. This is being done for the expansion of clinical trial capabilities,clinical research awareness building in the community and trial management services. The collaboration is part of a larger initiative and commitment at these organisations to improve access and expand the clinical research enterprise.

Reasearch based drug launch

A research based product Reimmugen and RIch Piyush (Cow Colostrum) from Sharp Health Care was launched at the hands of Dr Vijay Bhatkar. The product is best used as an immunity enhancer and is used for diseases like heart attack,cancer,AIDS and TB. Cow Colostrum is rich in immunoglobulins which safeguard the body from various infections,virus and bacteria.
