About 38 graduates of the 43rd batch of College of Nursing,Armed Forces Medical College (afmc) were commissioned on October 17 after the successful completion of their four-year Bachelor’s programme in nursing under the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences in Nashik.

Nursing graduates of AFMC commissioned

About 38 graduates of the 43rd batch of College of Nursing,Armed Forces Medical College (afmc) were commissioned on October 17 after the successful completion of their four-year Bachelor’s programme in nursing under the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences in Nashik. The reviewing officer was Air Marshal G S Joneja,VM,Director & Commandant,Armed Forces Medical College.

The topper of the batch was Lt Sonam Uttam,who was awarded the President’s Silver Medal and the Lt General K S Master’s Silver Trophy.

Lt Rajani Choudhury was declared the all-round best cadet and received the General Cariappa Rolling Trophy,while Lt Ansa V Mohan was the best clinical nurse,who was awarded the Silver Jubilee Rolling Trophy. The Pushpalok Ordnance award for the best outgoing student nurse among all nursing institutions in the Armed Forces for 2011 was awarded to Lt Jyoti Sharma of School of Nursing Lucknow.

Association of Diabetes Educators established

Led by Diabetes Endocrinology Nutrition Management and Research Centre (DENMARC) and BD,a global medical technology company,an association of Diabetes Educators has been introduced to educate people on the different aspects of managing diabetes. It was launched at the first annual conference of Association of Diabetes Educators in Mumbai in the midst of several renowned endocrinologists,educators and experts. The association has 200 registered diabetes instructors so far to said Dr Hemraj Chandalia,Diabetologist & Director of DENMARC.

Programme on hygiene held

ISCCM (Indian society for Critical Care and Medicine) celebrated its inception day by initiating a programme on propagating hand hygiene practices among medical fraternity and the masses as its annual agenda for the coming year. To this effect ISCCM has released the ISSCM Work Place Hand Hygiene Guideline,2012,for medical professionals,patients and common man,which will be practised and promoted by their members throughout the year. Dr P K JOSHI chairman,PUNE ISCCM said,“Washing and sanitising hands can keep our body away from external pathogens such as bacteria,viruses,fungus and can help assuring a sound state of health.”
