Urinary incontinence camp
The Sahyadri chain of hospitals has organised a free ‘Stress Urinary Incontinence’ camp for women at their Fatima Convent and Hadapsar units. The initiative started on February 18 and will be on till March 8. Women can avail consultation with specialists,ultrasonography and uroflowmetry and also get discounts on further procedures (if advised). The camp will be active at the Hadapsar unit from 10am to 5pm,and at the Fatima Convent from 11am to 1pm. Patients would need to pre-register.
Inauguration
Sanjeevan Hospital,owned by the MTE Society,was recently inaugurated by energy minister Ajit Pawar. The hospital is a 100-bed facility with five operation theatres,a 20-bed ICU unit and a 24/7 laboratory. Facilities like CT scan & MRI are to be brought in soon. The management of the place has been handed over to Shashwat group of hospitals.
American medical degree
The American International Medical University (AIM – U),in association with the Washington Adventist University,USA,will open a representative office in Pune for the benefit of Indian students who wish to puruse an MD degree from America. Michael Waidande will be the co-ordinator of the Pune office,while the chief medical advisor is Dr C B Koppiker.
Collaboration
The Lokmanya Group of Hospitals has entered into a joint venture with the Kole Heart Institute & Research Centre Limited,based in Kolhapur,to manage their Department of Orthopedics,Spine,Trauma and Joint Replacements. The new department will be headed by world renowned Orthopedic and Joint Replacement surgeon,Dr Narendra Vaidya,who is among the few surgeons in the world who have performed all types of joints and spine surgery. Vaidya’s team of EMS at the Lokmanya Hospital,Pune,has been patrolling the Mumbai-Pune Express Highway since 2003. Dr Kole is credited with the invention of Cardio-Thoracic equipment.
