Healthy heart week
Fabiani & Budhrani Heart Institute is celebrating Healthy Heart Week from June 1 to 5 as part of their celebrations on completing four years of service. During the Healthy Heart Week,a free heart check-up camp has been organised and patients can avail many facilities free cardiac consultation,free ECG,50 per cent concession on cardiac investigations and discounted packages in angiography,Angioplasty and Bypass Surgery. The camp is open for all and will be held at Fabiani and Budhrani Heart Institute,Koregaon Park from June 1 to 5 from 9 am to 5 pm.

Lab for the people
Janakalyan Raktapedhi ( JKRP) and Bharat Vikas Parishad have launched ‘Bharat Vikas Parishad Pathology Laboratory’,which was launched at the hands of Mayor Mohansingh Rajpal. The laboratory,which is located at Swargate,will serve 24×7.
Apart from routine Haemotology,Serology,Clinical Patholgoy,Microbiology,Cytology,Bio Chemistry tests,it will also provide Blood Gas Analysis( ABG) round the clock as a special feature to strengthen small ICUs in their aim to manage critical patients.
The motto of the laboratory is to provide quality service at reasonable charges. The team of pathologists will be lead by Dr Amol Rajhans ( MD Path).The laboratory will have latest equipments,and will provide,among other things,free tests for patients below the poverty line and special discounts for senior citizens and pregnant ladies.
Oral Cancer Camp Held
Ruby Hall Cancer Centre had organised a cancer awareness and oral cancer screening camp on World No-Tobacco Day on May 31 at Ruby Hall Cancer Centre. Expert panel of doctors from Ruby Hall clinic delivered lectures on oral cancers. There was also an exhibition held on cancer awareness,posters and the entertainment programme Swardandh was performed by Anay Gadgil and Group for patients and their relatives.
The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that around 700 million children,or almost half of the worlds children,breathe air that is polluted by tobacco smoke,particularly in their homes
Silver jubilee
Poona Hospital & Research Centre has recently completed 25 years and celebrated the Silver Jubilee year with an array of free checkup camps,awareness programs for the public and medical updates for doctors. The hospital also plans to celebrate its 25th year by conducting Cardiac Surgery at a highly subsidized rate for the a period of one year. Five cardiac surgeries will be done at a concessional rate of Rs. 1,00,000 every month. Poona Hospital aims to provide quality medical care at reasonable cost to the public,and also to give free or concessional medical care to patients from the lower socio-economic strata. The hospital,which was established entirely through donations from local citizens,presently has 250 beds and state-of the-art medical facilities.
Anti-Tobacco camps held
Cancer Patients Aid Association,Pune (CPAP) conducted four anti-tobbacco awareness camps in the city last month to mark World No-Tobacco Day. The camps spread awareness of the hazards of tobacco in its many forms smoking or chewing tobacco and gutka. The camps included talks and slide shows and were held for students of Junior Red Cross,Pune Municipal workers,various Self Help Groups of Bopkhel,and for the staff of Srivardhan Bio-Tech at Miraj. More than one thousand men and women attended these Camps.They also held cancer detection camps for Municipal workers in the city and the Bachat Gath at Bopkhel. More than 200 people were screened for cancer. Early detection is the best way to cure cancer, declares Maharukh Mehta,director CPAA,Pune.
