The Pune branch of the Indian Medical Association conducted a public awareness programme on bronchial asthma on May 24 at Dr Nitu Mandke House.

Asthama awareness programme
The Pune branch of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) conducted a public awareness programme on bronchial asthma on May 24 at Dr Nitu Mandke House. The programme was preceded by a Marathi one-act play Mulgi Zali Ho,presented by staff members and doctors of Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital. Dr Nitin Abhyankar,Dr Sandeep Salvi,Dr Sampada Tambolkar and others spoke on the occasion,a statement issued by Dr Dilip Sarda,president of the city unit of IMA stated — As suggested by Chest Research Foundation study,the prevalence of bronchial asthma is increasing in Pune. In order to decrease this rising trend,we need to make general public aware of the causes,predisposing factors,ways and means of early interventions. The statement also added that the IMA and Pune Society of Gastroenterology in Collaboration with World Gastroenterology Organisation will observe May 29 as Irritable Bowel Syndrome Day to create awareness regarding this disorder.

Hospikon in Pune
Sior Hospital Management Alumni Association,Pune is organising its first series of national seminars on healthcare management. Eminent specialists from the field of healthcare management,HR,Medico Legal Systems,Insurance and IT will be participating in lectures and interactive sessions. The seminar will begin at SIOR on May 30.

Fellowship to city doctor
Dr Rahul Patil is working as Interventional Cardiologist at Ruby Hall Clinic and other major hospital in Pune since 2006. He worked at Catharina Hospital,Netherlands from January to March in complex Angioplasty techniques for which he was awarded with fellowship in Interventional Cardiology. During the fellowship tenure he did 151 elective angioplasty,51 Primary emergency angioplasty (Angioplasty done during on going Heart Attack). He has also done training in Percutaneous Aortic Valve Replacement (PAVR),that is,valve replacement without open heart surgery and coronary Fractional Flow Reserve Assessment (FFR). He has been trained by Dr J J Koolen,director of Interventional Cardiology,Catharina Hospital,Netherlands who is specialist in complex angioplasties and PAVR and Dr Nico Pijls is pioneer and founder of FFR technique.
