Santulan,an NGO,has planned a second free de-addiction camp from August 1 to 15.

De-addiction camp

After the successful completion of the first free de-addiction camp where 33 patients were treated and six vulnerable clients were adopted,Santulan,an NGO,has planned a second free de-addiction camp from August 1 to 15. Santulan will provide free medication,counseling,lodging and food to the participants.

A life-saver

Orthopedic and Joint Replacement specialist,Dr Narendra Vaidya of Lokmanya Hospital,recently performed a complicated surgery and gifted an 18-year-old patient the freedom to stand on his feet and walk pain-free. Anil (name changed) developed Sickle Cell Anaemia when he was about five years old,which affected his hip joints and led to Avascular Necrosis of the Hip. “It is a disease in which cellular death (necrosis) of bone components occurs due to interruption of the blood supply. Without blood,the bone tissue dies and the bone collapses. In case of the involvement of the bones of a joint,it often leads to destruction of the joint articular surfaces,” explained Vaidya. Vaidya along with his team of doctors – Dr Vishal Mohite and Dr Rakesh Patil,successfully replaced his hip joint. Considering his age,special type of imported implants were utilised.

Tie-up

Urology conference

Senior Urologist,professor Suresh Patankar,has been invited for the International Urological Conference being held at Berlin,Germany. At the conference,Dr Patankar will highlight his research based on ‘Modern Scientific Basis for Herbal Perpetration’ to be used to cure various urological conditions. Dr Patankar is president and founder trustee of AMAI Trust which runs ACE Hospital (previously known as Institute of Urology). He is also the Head of department of Urology at B J Medical College. The conference will be held from October 16-20,and has been organised by the Society Internationale De Urology,established in the year 1906. More than 5,000 Urologists from various countries are the members of the society. The aim of this conference is to exchange the new updates,information regarding new therapies,technologies,techniques and innovations in the field of Urology.
