Inamdar Multispecialty Hospital achieved its first IVF conception last week. The patient,Smita Pandit (name changed),is 36 years of age and had undergone treatment through many doctors in the city. She conceived in the first attempt itself with the help of doctors at Inamdar Clinic. The Pandit couple is thrilled with the pregnancy. The hospital,headed by Dr. Amit Shah and his wife Dr. Poonam Shah,is equipped with state of the art IVF center inclusive of all the latest amenities

Orthopedic Card

Lokmanya hospital,Nigdi,recently announced the launch of a special ortho-card scheme for senior citizens during a two day conference that concluded on October 31. Dr. Peter Wallis,director,Medical Department for Senior Citizens in Solihull,England,graced the occasion and shared his experiences relating to the various measures being taken in England to solve the health problems faced by senior citizens. He also consulted office-bearers of senior citizen organisations from Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad area. A book titled ‘Ruperi Kada’,concerning senior citizens and authored by Dr. Shashikant Karandikar,was also launched during the conference. The hospital had also organised a discussion on ‘Pain Management’ by renowned anaesthetist,Dr. Barbara Hoggart,at Kasarwadi.

World Stroke Day

October 29 was World Stroke Day. In an effort to help people reduce their risk of stroke (brain attack) and better recognise the early warning signs and symptoms of the disease,the Aditya Birla Memorial Hospital,Chinchwad had organised a stroke-awareness programme. They outlined who is at risk for stroke and what are the early warning signs of the disease. Dr. Sachin Mishra and Dr. Rakesh Ranjan at the hospital facilitated the discussion programme. The initiative was focused on disease awareness and simple preventive measures. While there are some stroke risk factors that cannot be controlled,including family history of the disease,there are many factors that can be modified by making simple lifestyle changes.
