A day after Union Law Minister Veerappa Moily promised support to set up a Bombay High Court bench in Pune,the Pune Bar Association (PBA) has formed an action committee comprising advocates and advocates-turned-politcians to follow up the matter till Delhi,said PBA president Milind Pawar.
The committee is headed by Bar Council of Maharashtra and Goa member Harshad Nimbalkar,invitee Milind Pawar,30 members of the PBA along with advocate-politicians Ankush Kadade,Vandana Chavan,Bhagwan Salunke,Bhagwan Bhargude,Chandrakant Chhajed and Abhay Chhajed. “Our first step would be to meet the state law minister Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil and Chief Justice of Bombay High Court Mohit Shah,” Nimbalkar said.
Meanwhile,the PBA elections will be held tomorrow for its executive committee. Around 20 candidates are in fray for president,vice-president,secretary and treasurer who will be elected by way of ballot poll by 6000 advocate-voters on Thursday.
Advocates Dhananjay Chour,Vijay Sawant,Nandkumar Gaikwad,Chandrakant Choudhary are the candidates for the PBA president’s post. There are eight candidates in fray for two posts of vice-president -Vikas Gaje-Patil,B R Patil,Sanjeevani Kenjale,Hiraman Ghorpade,Anil Kante,Narayan Mule,Navnath Nale and Shivaji Pandage,said outgoing PBA president Pawar.
Five advocates -Amol Kajale-Patil,Sunil Jagtap,Kiran Rajput,Pravin Shendkar and Shivshankar Shinde are vying for two posts of secretary,while Sandip Bahirat and Rasool Sayyed are candidates for one treasurer’s post,Pawar said. Advocate Eknath Sugaonkar is the election officer,while advocate Shirish Shinde is the additional election officer.
Around 6,000 members of the PBA from Pune city and district will cast their votes on Thursday between 9 am and 5.30 pm at Ashoka Hall on the Shivajinagar court premises. The results will be declared late in the evening the same day.
