She’s Pune’s pretty woman and has carved a niche for herself in the glitzy world of Bollywood. Singer Manasi Scott has crooned her way to fame and has given our desi films many a hit number. But this time around, instead of being the voice behind the camera,Manasi will be seen lighting up the silver screen in upcoming film Jhootha Hi Sahi.
Manasi comes across as independent in real life and her reel character in the film is no different. She says,I play John’s girlfriend in Jhootha Hi Sahi. She’s a very headstrong and independent young woman. I can’t say much more because that will give away the story! Going by the promos of the film, one would think the film is quite young and different from the usual run-of-the mill ones. She nods,See,every film is different in its own way. This one,in particular,is more real. It’s a brilliant script and that’s what got me hooked on to it.
The singer-actress is also all praise for director Abbas Tyrewala. He has done such a great job in interpreting the script. Also, almost the whole support cast is new and that lends a very urban and young feel to the film, she says. Visibly excited to be a part of this production,Manasi feels it is a great way to also promote her music. For me,it has always been about music. I will do everything I can to promote my music. This film fell into my lap but the future projects that I will choose will have a connection to my music, she says. So,has she sung any songs for the film? She laughs,Surprisingly,no!
Working with John Abraham was one of the plus points of this experience. I have known him for so many years as my husband used to model with him. He’s just fantastic to work with. He is,what one would call,an actor’s actor. He gives you space to perform. And he’s played this character so well. The role was meant for him. I really hope all our hard work pays off, she smiles.
A lot of Puneites seem to be making a mark in the glamour world. Yeah,Gauhar Khan instantly comes to mind. She’s doing so well. It feels so good to be making the city proud, she says.
