Chain-snatching incidents in the city is on a rise this season,with three cases reported in the past two days. On Tuesday,the gold chain of Madhavi Madhukar Joshi,64,was snatched near Veer Savarkar Chowk canal around 5.45 pm.
Joshi was walking home with his sister when a young man,around 19 years,snatched the chain worth Rs 51,000. Joshi,a resident of Vitthalwadi Road,lodged a complaint at the Swargate police station.
In another incident,two motorcycle borne youths snatched a gold chain from Mangal Tukaram Salunke (56) at Satavwadi around 5.40 pm on Tuesday. Salunke,a resident of Sahkar Nivas Society in Satavwad,has lodged a complaint with the Hadapsar police. Salunke was walking home with her husband when the youths snatched her chain worth Rs 71,000.
On Monday the gold chain of Anita Nandakumar Marne (36) was snatched near Eknath Mangal Karyalay in Budhwar Peth. Marne has lodged a complaint at Faraskhana police station.
Gold worth Rs 50,000 and Rs 60,000 cash were stolen from a Sadashiv Peth house on Tuesday afternoon. Pandharinath Kakde (29),a resident of Janki Corner,and his family were not in the house when the incident occured.
