Portico,Sayaji Hotels flagship restaurant offers an interactive buffet menu and a host of Indian and continental dishes
Pune foodies have one more reason to rejoice and gear up for a culinary treat,as Portico,Sayaji Hotel’s newly-opened restaurant throws open its doors for the public. Located on the Mumbai-Bamgalore highway, the recently-launched hotel has Portico to perk things up on the food front. As the food and beverage manager Anuj Majumdar says,We have come up with this interactive style buffet that is priced at Rs 350 per head. In addition,if a person wants a particular dish cooked in a different style,he can avail the same at no extra charge. Also, even though this is a buffet restaurant,we do not make the entire dish at one time. Instead,we cook small portions and keep it on display using a new induction technology which keeps the food warm and also lets the customer decide whether he wants the dish as it is or get it cooked in a different style, he adds.
In the Indian section, vegetarians can try dishes like the Veg Panchpuram, which is a dish of mixed vegetables, made in five different types of masalas and the Lauki and Tamater, which is basically gourd cooked with tomato or the Mixed Sabzi, which has mixed vegetables cooked either in a red sauce or made to order in a sauce of your choice. For non vegetarians, there are the standard issue chicken, mutton and fish dishes like Kadai Chicken,Mutton Rogan Josh,Laal Maas, all cooked in sauces that can either be tried according to the chefs preparations or cooked according to the choice of the customer, says executive chef Kishan Gunjal.
A must try in the continental section is the Roast Chicken which is cooked in a brown sauce (chefs recommendation) that deserves a special mention and the Barista Pulav, which is rice cooked with fried onions and corn and is a specialty of the house. The salad bar and chaat counter enable customers to choose from a wide variety of chaats and salads.
