Pune foodies have one more reason to rejoice and gear up for a culinary treat,as Portico,Sayaji Hotel’s newly-opened restaurant throws open its doors for the public. Located on the Mumbai-Bamgalore highway, the recently-launched hotel has Portico to perk things up on the food front. As the food and beverage manager Anuj Majumdar says,We have come up with this interactive style buffet that is priced at Rs 350 per head. In addition,if a person wants a particular dish cooked in a different style,he can avail the same at no extra charge. Also, even though this is a buffet restaurant,we do not make the entire dish at one time. Instead,we cook small portions and keep it on display using a new induction technology which keeps the food warm and also lets the customer decide whether he wants the dish as it is or get it cooked in a different style, he adds.
Some of the more interesting dishes that are available on the menu include the Chutney Kebab, which is kebab made of boneless chicken cooked in a spicy mint-based sauce, the Prawn Kebab which is cooked in a savoury style, thus retaining the distinct smell of the prawns and the Paneer Kebab, which is paneer cubes marinated with a red masala base and cooked on an open charcoal grill. For non vegetarians, there are the standard issue chicken, mutton and fish dishes like Kadai Chicken,Mutton Rogan Josh,Laal Maas, all cooked in sauces that can either be tried according to the chefs preparations or cooked according to the choice of the customer, says executive chef Kishan Gunjal.
