Like every year,the NGO Dnyana Devi will hold its annual dance and drama competitions on December 18 to raise funds for its various activities. The funds will primarily be used for its educational programmes for underprivileged childrend as well as Childline,the 24-hour helpline for children in distress. The event will be held at Bharatnatya Mandir and will comprise dramas,dance and song competitions. From 30-minute plays in Marathi,Hindi and English,to classical and folk dances as well as a section for 3-6-year-olds,this event will have something for children of all age groups.

Ode To Chacha Nehru

Today,on the occasion of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru’s birthday,which is celebrated as Children’s Day,the third edition of the bestseller book titled ‘Goshti Chacha Nehrunchya’ written by Subhash Deshpande will be released by social activist Ashatai Sheth and veteran educationist P L Gawde. Deshpande is a well-known children’s writer. The first edition of his book was released on November 14,2009 and was sold out within 10 days. The second edition was then released in December 2009 by Gandhian Shobhnatai Ranade. This third edition launch will be held at 10 am at Pramilabai Bedekar Balak Mandir,Rasta Peth. The book,originally priced at Rs 20,will be sold for Rs 10 on this special occasion.
