Fire at Ahura Ice and Cold Storage in Pune’s Bhosari area, 2 injured
An official says the fire may have been caused by sparks from welding work that the injured men were engaged in.

Two people were injured when a fire broke out at the Ahura Ice and Cold Storage factory in the Landewadi Bhosari MIDC area near Pune on Saturday afternoon.
Fire officials identified the injured as Kolmuddin Alam (19) and S Muntaj (26), both natives of West Bengal.
Hrishikesh Jagtap, a trainee fireman, saw a fire at the factory when he was passing by the area. He immediately informed the Bhosari fire station, around 3.24 pm.
Soon teams from the fire stations in Bhosari and Pimpri, led by fire sub-officers Dilip Gaikwad and Anil Dimble, rushed to the spot with fire tenders and water tankers.
“It was learnt that the factory was closed. The work of removing scrap material from the factory was going on. Some workers were doing welding work at the factory. We suspect the fire was caused by sparks emerging from the welding work,” said Bhosari sub-officer Gaikwad.
“Thermocol used for cold storage caught fire and it spread rapidly. A plastic-roof shed was also gutted, causing a huge amount of smoke. Two workers doing welding work were injured when they jumped out to save themselves. They were admitted to hospital for treatment,” he said.
The fire teams brought the situation under control and carried out a cooling operation at the spot.
