Being celebrated as part of the 100 years of Indian cinema,the Prabhat film awards ceremony will be held on June 1 at Ganesh Kala Krida Manch. A total of 27 categories of filmmaking will be honoured. Thirty three films were submitted of which 12 were selected for the final competition. The categories include those for best story,best screenplay,lyricist,singer,actor,actress and director,costumes,cinematography and sound.

Mighty One

Pune Central marked its first anniversary with a musical performance by Silk trio and a childrens fashion show. Marathi actor Vijay Patwardhan,and classical singer Rahul Deshpande with wife Neha attended the event. The Silk trio performed a variety of rock songs. The fashion show showcased party wear,fashion wear,ethnic wear and casuals.

On the Brighter Side

The Bright Day,a film by noted filmmaker Mohit Takalkar,has been selected to compete for Asia New Talent Award at the 16th Shanghai International Film Festival. The film that revolves around a young man who abandons his dear ones to set out on a spiritual quest,is the only Indian film in this section that will compete with films from Iran,Korea,China,Singapore and Indonesia. The film has been screened at Toronto,Mumbai,South Asian International Film Festival,Calgary,and South Asian film festival in Vancouver in 2012. The Shanghai International Film Festival,founded in 1993,is scheduled to be held from June 15 to 23.
