With the recently released film,Faqt Ladh Mhana (Just Say Fight),the Marathi industry has achieved a new milestone – the film was released in 100 UFO Digital screens across the state. This marks a change that is slowly setting into the whole film industry. Speaking about the same,Pankaj Jaisingh,CEO,UFO Digital cinemas says,All this is happening because the quality of the films that are being made is improving. Hence the digitisation of the films. Under this, instead of physically sending prints of films, they are digitally streamed to the theatres. This helps the films’ audio and video clarity, and as the prints are digital, there is no wear and tear.”
The movie itself is a take on the corruption that is plaguing the state. Actor Sachin Khedekar plays the role of a corrupt politician. Director of the film Sanjay Jadhav says,The film was conceptualised when Mahesh (Manjrekar) told me the story. The screenplay had been lying with Mahesh for around eight years. And he wanted me to direct it. All I can say is that it has three subplots that contribute to the main film. Jadhav also says that using the digital medium has helped Marathi cinema reach a wider audience. There were barely any films in 2005 that were released in tahis format. Now there are over 70 films a year that are being screened on over 200 UFO digital centres. Numbers speak for themselves, he says. On a lighter note Jadhav mentions that there was a particular scene that took 12 days to shoot. It was a four minute sequence that took 12 days to shoot. It is funny because we wrapped up the entire shoot in 30 days, he says.
