It is often said that good things come in small packages but this child wonder takes the phrase to an altogether different level and blows your mind away with her enthusiasm and skill. Prachi Badve,daughter of Srinivas and Pooja Badve is a child prodigy if there ever was one! Studying at Abhinav English School,the spunky eleven-year-old has already set off along the glamorous road of fashion with a show at the Pune Fashion Week already under her talented belt. What began as idle appreciation has now evolved into a full-fledged occupation for her with even the President of India lauding her efforts.
Badve says,I began sketching designs on scraps of paper and notebooks since the age of three,but what got me hooked to the world of fashion was Priyanka Chopra and the stunning gown that she wore when she was crowned Miss World.
Later,Prachi got her big break in January 2010 when she got a slot to showcase her work at the Pune Fashion Week alongside established names in the fashion world like Vikram Phadnis,Salim Asgarally,Archana Kochhar and Shaina NC. She proudly says,Pooja Chopra was my show stopper at the PFW. It was a great experience.
After the initial shock,her parents supported her whole-heartedly and are proud that Prachi is growing up to be such a multi-faceted personality. She has already completed one year of designing at the Vidyanchal Institute of Design and is currently pursuing her second year of study there.
She intends to take up designing as her occupation as she believes it is her true calling. Currently designing for women,Prachi plans on expanding her horizons to include clothes for men as well as teenagers.
When asked about her future plans she says,My dream is to display my work at the Milan Fashion Week,and I would love to have Priyanka Chopra walk the ramp as my show stopper. That probably would be the most amazing thing that could happen.
She however also says that she doesnt read fashion magazines to keep up with the latest trends around the world,but does watch FTV or browse the internet once in a while to keep in touch.
Keeping in mind that the monsoon seems to have arrived prematurely this year,Badve has a fashion tip ready for fashion aficionados. I would advise people to wear colourful,flamboyant prints this season and to keep it comfortable. But I think if you have it,why not flaunt it? she says on a concluding note.
