The light showers on Friday have been attributed to local development by the India Meteorological Department (IMD). With the monsoon currents being weak and no systems there is not much monsoon activity,said deputy director general of IMD AB Mazumdar.
He said that only the northern parts of the country were receiving rainfall and a few parts of the southern areas too are getting rainfall.
He however said that the withdrawl activity of the monsoon has not yet started. Normally the withdrawl activity starts from September 1. “This has been delayed.There will be some more of monsoon activity,” he said.
According to the IMD officers the seasonal monsoon coverage has already been covered.
