The Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) is set to see some changes this month. With increased frequency of buses and even lanes getting a little narrower for these routes, the changes will be visible soon, said divisional commissioner Dilip Band who has been given additional charge as chairman and managing director of the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML).
Band said he would strive to ensure better frequency in services. There will be changes implemented in this month itself, he said. The priority is to be able to provide the best services to the commuters,he said, adding he would get things streamlined at the earliest.
Meetings would held to deliberate on issues such as width and whether to shift bus-stops or have it on both sides, said Band. new routes as well as the old routes Having frequency such as every two minutes especially in peak hours will be taken up on priority basis, he said.
The urban transport department had in January written a letter to the state government expressing its displeasure at the manner in which PMPML is functioning. With CMDs of PMPML being replaced frequently,it was mentioned that it was hindering services to the commuters.
