Few takers for bifocal courses,admission ends
The final day of the bifocal admissions saw the enrollment of only 400 students,taking the final count to around 2,900 admissions. However,the total number of seats to be allotted this year are 4,925. Speaking about what will happen to the vacant seats,DC Nevse,Vocational Education Officer,Pune said,There are many new colleges which have come up and students are not very sure if they want to take admissions in these colleges. However,after the admissions are over and the students join the colleges in the science stream,we will ask the colleges to bring out category wise letters. Thus,if any of the students will be interested in converting to bifocals,we will let them do that.
Careerversity to organise seminar
Careerversity,will be organising a seminar on career opportunities in healthcare management on July 23,at 4 pm at the institutes campus in Bavdhan. The students will be addressed by Dr Shirish Hiremath,a well-known city-based cardiologist and Dr Shrikanth Deshmukh,practicing gynaecologist and head of the hospital management department at Careerversity.
Also present will be Dr Arun Nigavekar,chief mentor and chairman,Careerversity who has also been the former Vice Chancellor of University of Pune and former UGC chairman to share his expertise about the career prospects in the healthcare industry.
Interaction for UK-bound students on July 22
The British Council will be organising an interaction between students,wanting to get admission in institutes in the UK,and selected alumni who will share their experiences of studying there. The orientation will cover topics like student visa application,travel,settling down in the UK,accommodation and health. The orientation will be held on July 22 from 1:30 to 5:30 pm at The Peshwa II,Hotel Sun-n-Sand,262,Bund Garden Road,Pune – 411 001.
School kids take lessons in physics,chemistry
Students of over 160 schools across the city participated in an event where they had a chance to take practical lessons in physics and chemistry from senior scientist of Inter University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA) Arvind Paranjape at the Pinnacle Concept Learning Centre,Bavdhan,Pune.
Children from schools like Symbiosis,Abhinav,Karnatak,Seva Sadan,to name a few,enjoyed making spectroscope from paper and also learned some basic facts about Chemistry,as the current year is being observed as a chemistry year,apart from witnessing a special film on space science.
Oasis Institute gets BSS approval
Oasis Institute of Health Sciences and Research Center has got the approval of BSS,the central government body. The institute which has been working under National Planning Commission for various training programs has started courses like Masters Diploma in Emergency Medical Services (MDEMS) and Emergency Medical Service.
