Fashion designing course for economically weak women

The Suryadatta Institute offered a two-month fashion designing course to 200 economically weak women free of cost. Rajeshwari Deshpande,an experienced faculty from Suryadatta,trained the participants in hand embroidery and fashion designing. The course was conducted in Dhankawadi and the next batch joined on March 10. The women who completed the course received formal certificates. An exhibition of over 200 stitching patterns done by them was also organised. They were felicitated by Pramila Sankala,a social worker,Savita Dagade,Zila Parishad president and Kiran Dagade,NCP Youth Congress vice-president,Pune.

No effort goes wasted: Chhabria

“There is no alternative to hard work. There are no short cuts in life but nothing is impossible. Be positive and no effort goes wasted,” said Prahlad P Chhabria,Chairman,Finolex Group of Companies,and asked the students of International Institute of Information Technology (I 2 IT) to follow them. Chhabria shared the story of his life and struggle with the students and the faculty of the institute. His is quintessentially a rag to riches story. Chhabria did not receive a formal education and did several odd jobs before migrating to Pune from Karach. He also mentioned that he would often look at the sky to find answers to several grappling questions. After many hardships and paltry payments,Chhabria migrated to Pune and started working at a cloth merchant’s shop.

Pune students excel in Tata Crucible quiz

The Tata Crucible Campus Quiz,2011,the seventh edition of one of India’s largest business quiz for campus students was held in the city. Following an exciting battle of wit and grit,Raghunandan and Gorkshnath of Pune Institute of Management Science and Entrepreneurship College emerged victorious. Sachin Ravi and Raghav C of Symbiosis Law School were the runners up. The Tata Crucible Campus Quiz 2011 has travelled across 23 cities in the country.

Wellness programme at RIMS School

With the aim of apreading health awareness among students,RIMS International School will organise a wellness programme on World Health Day on April 7. A panel of doctors for different checkups will be present at the event,followed by a demonstration of scientific yoga,puppet show to highlight the importance of health,seminar on obesity and diabetes and a film screening promoting health and hygiene.
