Pune:An Industry-Institute partnership summit was held at Bharati Vidyapeeth Institute of Management and Entrepreneurship Development on Saturday. Over 150 representatives of the Industry and Corporate world participated. A ‘Centre for Excellence’ was inaugurated by Satysurya Sharma,Director,National School of Leadership at the event. S F Patil,Executive Director,Bharati Vidyapeeth said,“India is the third largest country in technical manpower but its development is not proper which is a serious matter. Industry and Universities should work hand in hand to change this.” The summit was inaugurated by Pawan Chaudhari,CEO,VYGON India,Ravi Waranasi,Senior Vice President,National Stock Exchange,Anant Sardeshmukh,Director General,MCCIA ,Sharad Joshi,Director,Vishwakarma Institute of Managment and Sachin Vernekar,Director of IMED. The summit was organised in association with National Stock Exchange,Mahratta Chamber of Commerce Industries and Agriculture and National School of Leadership and Computer Society of India.

Robot Olympiad from September 29

Pune:Techtronics Education in association with MIT Pune’s,Maharashtra Academy of Engineering,Pune is organising the seventh edition of Indian Robot Olympiad,India’s largest Robotic Competition,in association with Lego. This year’s theme of the competition is ‘Robots Connecting People’ and registrations of school and college teams for the competition is on at the Maharashtra Academy of Engineering. The regional round will be held on September 29-30 followed by the final round in Delhi on October 11-12. IRO is held in three categories — Primary School,Junior High and Senior High — and students aged between 9 and 17 participate. Participating teams need to create,design and build Robots using LEGO Mindstorms NXT to solve pre-defined missions.

Pune students shine at Lakme Fashion Week

Pune:Two students of the International Institute of Fashion Design,Deccan were selected to showcase their designes at ‘The Source’ at Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012 held from August 3 -7 at Hotel Grand Hyatt,Mumbai. Amit Agrawal Centre Director of INIFD Deccan Pune said,“More than 1,000 entries were received from across India of which only 110 designer garments were selected. Students portrayed pure timeless silhouettes in the festival.” INIFD student designers,Shruti and Pranita,whose designs were showcased said,“We are very thankful to our college for giving this opportunity to display our designer garments at India’s biggest platform,Lakme Fashion Week.” Pranita designed a three-piece traditional female outfit in peach and green with katran while Shruti designed a classic tunic in grey teamed with leggings of crochet.
