At senate meet,banter takes front seat
Though the University of Pune (UoP) senate meet witnessed heated discussions and arguments,there were a few light moments too,where senate members pulled each other’s legs. The topic under discussion was the delay in the construction of the main building which led many of the senate members to recount their experiences and how fond they were of the building. One of the members,who ribbed two senior most senate members,Gajanan Ekbote and Nandkumar Nikam,said,The building holds so much importance for these two people as they have spent so much time in it, referring to the age of the two members. Ekbote reacted by,Of course,we have spent our time in the building,unlike you,who spent most of your time outside the building,in the lawns, evoking peels of laughter from all present.
Education Act: principals forum on anvil
The city is set to get a principals’ forum of private English medium schools for a better understanding and implementation of the Right To Education Act. The forum was proposed by Malati Kalmadi,secretary,Kannada Sangha,Pune,during a seminar Right to Education Act What Does it mean for School Heads? jointly organised by Kannada Sanghas Kaveri Group of Institutes and Shikshangan Foundation. The idea got instant acceptance from over 30 principals and school representatives present on the occasion.
Druckers Society inaugurated
The Pune chapter of the Drucker’s society was recently inaugurated at the Indira group of institutes. The Drucker Society of India believes in practising and propagating the principles and values expressed by Peter Drucker through his 39 books on management and many papers in journals and magazines that have become important in the world of a businessman,said a press release. The chapter was inaugurated on by Vaibhav Manek,vice-president,Drucker Society of India.
MNVS activists gherao senate member
After the discussion in the senate about doing away with the external students of University of Pune,members of the Maharashtra Navnirman Vidyarthi Sena gheraoed UoP senate member Nandkumar Nikam. MNVS members said if this decision was brought into effect,a large number of students will be affected. Ajay Shinde,president,MNVS said,Doing away with the external students is not a solution to the problem. The university should sit and come up with some constructive solution. If the decision comes through,we plan to protest further.
