
The Pune Cantonment Board (PCB) is conducting a door-to-door survey starting Saurday to register people for the 2011 Census exercise.
According to PCB officials,they have already given the 3-day training to enumerators and surveyors for the door-to-door survey being conduct in cantonment areas. During the survey,PCB will register people for entry of their names in the national population register (NPR). For this,PCB is deploying around 215 enumerators and supervisors in enumeration work. The enumerators and supervisors comprise school teachers and PCB staff.
Through the door-to-door surveys we are collecting the data for issuance of identity cards which will be multi-purpose. These cards can be used by the people for various activities including their bank loans and for official purposes as well, added Mogare. The house-to-house survey is being conduct before the census operations which are to start in February next year.
For the door-to-door surveys we gave elaborate training to enumerators and surveyors comprising the education department officials as well as PCB officials. They were trained on filling up of forms for the door-to-door surveys and they will conduct the visits to enlist the people in the national population registers, added a Pune Cantonment Board Census officer.
