As part of its 125th year celebrations,the Deccan Education Society (DES) will host a state level seminar on National Ethos of Higher Education on March 16 and 17.
The seminar is expected to give insights into the changes undergone by pre and post independence education system and a futuristic vision about the needs of education.
University of Pune Vice-chancellor Narendra Jadhav will inaugurate the seminar on March 16 while D N Dhanagare,former vice-chancellor of Shivaji University will give keynote address,said A B Deshpande,chairman of organising committee of the seminar and principal,Brihan Maharashtra College of Commerce at a press meet on Tuesday.
The session,scheduled on March 17,will include talks on education: pre-independence period by Ram Takawale,former V-C of university of Pune,’education: post independence period’ by Dr Arun Nigavekar,former chairman,University Grants Commission,’education in post globalisation era’ by Dr Ashok Kolaskar,former V-C,University of Pune and ‘education in future’ by Kumud Bansal,former secretary,ministry of education. March 17 is also the death anniversary of Vishnushatri Chiplunkar,one of the founders of DES and birth centenary of veteran educationist J P Naik.
