Deadline for UoP online application for PhD today

The University of Pune online application procedure for PhD will end on Monday.

The University of Pune (UoP) online application procedure for PhD will end on Monday. The varsity had declared vacant seats for PhD under 10 faculties. The PhD department till Saturday evening received about 11,500 applications from across the country for about 1,736 seats advertised.

The faculties which have vacancies include science,management,arts and fine arts,engineering,education,physical education,commerce,law,mental,moral and social sciences and pharmacy. The department of English will not be admitting candidates this academic year due to lack of guides.

Vitthal Sathe,deputy registrar,UoP said,On Monday,we will get a clear picture of the total number of online applications. The last date for receiving forms by post is December 2. So we can expect the total number to go up a little further.

This is for the first time that the varsity will be conducting its entrance exam online.

Wasudev Gade,director,Board of College and University Development (BCUD) had said a few weeks back that the students appearing for the exam will have to come to the city for the test,which is scheduled for December 17. A few engineering colleges were to be selected as the centers. However,the list naming these centers has not been put up on the UoP website.

Our executive committee will be holding a meeting on Monday and decide the centers. We have decided to keep the centers in Pune,Nagar and Nashik,where colleges are under the jurisdiction of UoP. Also,the sample test paper which will also be put up on Monday, said Gade.
